You don’t need an SSH connection to connect to a managed database. Follow these steps:
  • In Remtoloc, click on your project and select MySQL.
  • Uncheck 'Use SSH for MySQL dump'.
  • Select your SSL certificate.
  • Enter your host (e.g., yourusername.db.ondigitalocean.com).
  • Fill in your username and password.
  • Enter your port, typically 25060.

Yes, from version 1.0.3 onwards, you can sync a database from your server to another server’s database. You can add the host, protocol, and port for the target database. By default, the host is set to localhost, but you can specify the IP address of the target database server here to sync it remotely.
Yes, you can sync a database to a Docker container starting from version 1.0.3. If your Docker MySQL host is running correctly, you can connect to it from your local machine by specifying the host, port, and protocol in the appropriate fields:
  • Host: Use localhost or 127.0.0.1 as the host.
  • Port: Enter the port number you’ve forwarded from the Docker container (e.g., 12345).
  • Protocol: Set the protocol to TCP instead of the default.
Since MySQL is running inside the Docker container, the socket is not available, and you need to connect via TCP. By configuring these fields with the correct values, you will be able to sync your database successfully.

To sync an S3 bucket to a local object storage system, follow these steps:

  • Go to your S3 tab.
  • Uncheck "Use same S3 credentials as source."
  • Enter your IP address and port number in the "Host Name" field.
  • Enter the same IP address and port number in the "Host Bucket" field.
  • Fill in your local credentials.
  • Test your settings by clicking the "Test S3 Connection" button

Yes, starting with Version 1.1.0, Remtoloc has S3 syncing functionality. It uses the tool S3cmd to synchronize an S3 bucket to your local machine. How to install S3cmd on your Mac:

  • Open a terminal on your Mac
  • Check if S3cmd is installed by running s3cmd --version
  • If it's not installed, you can install it with brew or go to https://s3tools.org/s3cmd
  • Type in your terminal: which s3cmd
  • Copy this path in your Remtoloc settings (the gear icon in the upper right corner)
  • Enter your S3 credentials on the S3 tab in your project
